One trip tells you about a day. A year shows where you kept going, what you caught, and who came along. Every year you fish gets its own recap, and you can turn it into a PDF book.

Part one

See the fishing year you had.

Most of a fishing year disappears. You hold on to the big fish and the bad weather, and the rest blurs into “a good summer.” A recap puts it back together from what you logged.

Your biggest catch. Your busiest month. Your best day on the water. Personal bests and species that were new to you.

What it noticed

The lure you kept going back to. The water you returned to most. A late summer run of one species. Small patterns from your own entries, not predictions.

In your words

The note you wrote on the drive home turns up again in the recap, beside the photos from that year.

Where you fished

Every water from the year on one map, with pins at the general location of each water.

Share it, or do not

Save the recap as an image or pass it along. Nothing is shared unless you choose to share it.

Every year, and every month

Each year you fish gets its own recap, with a recap for each month inside it. The current year fills in as you go.

Part two

Make a keepsake.

A recap is the year at a glance, on screen. A keepsake is a photo book of the year: its trips, waters, fish, and people, in your own words, saved as a PDF.

Make a Book sheet: choose a recap or a keepsake, which outings go in, whether to include trip notes and the people you fished with, a page size of 8 inch square, 10 inch square, Letter, or A4, and which photos to include, with an Export button
Make a Book: 24 photos suggested, and you untick any you would leave out.

  1. Choose the kind of book: a recap or a keepsake.
  2. Choose what goes in: a recommended spread across the year, every outing you wrote about, or your own pick.
  3. Decide whether to include your trip notes and the people you fished with.
  4. Pick a page size: 8 inch square, 10 inch square, Letter, or A4.
  5. Choose the photos, then export the PDF.

Cast Your Line creates the PDF. It does not print or ship books. Print it at home, or send the file to any print service and get a bound copy back.

What is in a keepsake

A map of the waters you fished, the year month by month in photos, a page for each outing, every species you caught, and a logbook of every trip at the back.

Careful by default

Trip notes are left out unless you turn them on, because notes can name places. Book maps show general water locations, not your spots.

One for the shelf

Keep a copy. Give one to the person who was in the boat with you.
