This policy explains how Cast Your Line (“the app”), made by Quiet Tools LLC (“Quiet Tools,” “we,” “us”), handles your information. The short version: the app does not require an account, does not show ads, does not track you, and does not send your journal to us.
Cast Your Line stores the content you choose to enter, including trips, catches, species, photos, notes, places, companions, conditions, lures and bait, and recorded routes. This information is used only to provide the app’s features, such as your history, maps, yearly recaps, and photo books.
Your journal is stored on your device. Quiet Tools does not operate servers that receive or store your journal entries, and we cannot see them.
If you are signed in to iCloud on your device, sync is on by default. Your journal data is stored in your private iCloud account by Apple so it can appear on your other devices. That data is handled under your Apple account settings and Apple’s Privacy Policy. Quiet Tools does not have access to your iCloud data.
Cast Your Line asks for location access only to provide location features you choose to use, such as recording a GPS route during a trip, marking catch locations, or saving a place. Route tracking is optional and runs only while you have it turned on. Location data is saved in your journal, not sent to Quiet Tools. You can change location permission at any time in your device’s Settings.
Maps are displayed using Apple’s mapping services, which may receive the map area being viewed in order to display map tiles, as described in Apple’s privacy policy.
If you choose to log the weather for a trip, the app sends the general location of that water to Apple’s weather service to retrieve current conditions. It does not send your exact spots or recorded routes. Weather data is provided by Apple Weather. You can also enter conditions by hand.
Photos you add are saved as part of your journal. The app accesses your photo library or camera only when you choose to add a photo, and only the photos you select.
Nothing is shared unless you share it. When you export, print, or share a trip, recap, or photo book PDF, the app or service you choose will receive that content, and its own privacy practices apply. Data on your device may also be included in device backups according to your Apple settings.
Cast Your Line does not require you to create an account. It does not include advertising, third-party ad or analytics SDKs, or behavioral tracking, and Quiet Tools does not sell, rent, or share your personal information. If you opt in to share diagnostics with developers in your device settings, Apple may provide us with anonymous crash reports and usage statistics.
Any in-app purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. Quiet Tools does not receive your payment details. The app may check your purchase status with Apple to unlock features you have bought. If you choose the monthly subscription, it renews through your Apple account until you cancel it in your App Store subscription settings.
If you contact support by email or through the support form, we receive the information you choose to send, such as your name, email address, device details, and message. Messages sent through the website form are processed by FormSubmit and delivered to us by email. We use this information only to respond to you. Please don’t send sensitive information.
Cast Your Line is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
You can edit or delete any entry in the app at any time. Deleting the app removes its data from that device. If you use iCloud sync, you can manage or delete synced data through your iCloud settings. Location and photo permissions can be changed in your device’s Settings.
We may update this policy if the app’s features or privacy practices change. The current version will always be available on this page, with the date it was last updated.
